Rural Primary School Support & Supplies – Underserved Rural Communities

In underserved villages across the South West Region of Cameroon, such as Bomana, Kumba, and the remote settlements around Mount Cameroon, hundreds of primary school children attend class in makeshift structures without desks, basic textbooks, or writing materials. The "Rural Primary School Support & Supplies" initiative by CRUDEF directly equips rural primary schools with wooden desk infrastructure, essential learning packages, and classroom supplies. By investing $40,000.00 into these underserved classrooms, we restore dignity to local education, lower drop-out rates, and empower over 1,500 children to pursue their dreams of learning in a safe, structured environment.

Growing up in the quiet village of Bomana at the base of Mount Cameroon, nine-year-old Enow always woke up at dawn with one dream: to become a civil engineer and build safe bridges for his community. Every morning, he would walk two miles to his local primary school, eager to learn. But entering his classroom meant facing a harsh reality. There were no wooden desks, no blackboard, and no textbooks. Enow and forty of his classmates spent their entire school day sitting on bare, damp concrete floors, using their knees as makeshift desks to write on scrap paper.

During the heavy rainy season in the South West Region, cold mud frequently swept through the open walls of the classroom, making basic learning nearly impossible. Teachers in these underserved areas do their best with limited resources, but without fundamental learning materials, bright children like Enow quickly fall behind, leading to high drop-out rates across rural communities in Buea and Kumba.

After conducting field assessments across underserved rural villages in the South West Region, CRUDEF identified 15 primary schools facing critical infrastructure deficits. Children should never have to choose between their physical health and their basic right to an education.

Through our Rural Primary School Support & Supplies initiative, we are mobilizing resources to supply sturdy wooden double-desks, complete textbook sets, exercise books, writing materials, and chalkboard restorations directly to these 15 rural primary schools. By meeting these immediate classroom needs, we provide rural children with a clean, dignified, and comfortable space to focus on their studies and build a brighter future.
