What Is a Regional Heritage Space?

CRUDEF’s Establishing Regional Heritage Spaces initiative constructs multi-purpose, community-managed cultural hubs in key areas like Buea and regional centers. These facilities serve as:

• Climate-Protected Artifact Displays: Safe venues to store, preserve, and exhibit historical woodwork, traditional textiles, and royal regalia.

• Interactive Youth Workshops: Active learning spaces where elders lead workshops on native language fluency, traditional dance, and indigenous music for school groups.

• Artisan Co-Working Hubs: Shared workshop spaces equipped with woodworking and weaving tools where local creators manufacture and sell authentic crafts directly to visitors.

Community-Led Ownership

Every heritage center constructed by CRUDEF operates under a local management committee composed of traditional leaders, local youth representatives, and women’s group leaders, ensuring the facility directly serves the long-term cultural and economic needs of the surrounding population.
